Decluttering handbags –what is lurking in your ‘other’ bags

Posted on October 03, 2012 by lessismo | 2 Comments

Sometimes we stop using a bag because of a lifestyle change or because we no longer have the outfit we wore it with.

It lurks in the back of the cupboard, and it isn’t until  a day like today when you get it out that you discover where your asthma inhaler, favourite mascara or $50 note has been hiding amidst the clutter.

Hunt out those spare bags, empty them out, and decide if you want to keep them or pass them on to someone who will use them.

I’ve not used one, but friends swear by handbag inserts/liners (Howards Storage World has a wide selection) – you just have one set of handbag ‘stuff’ that gets transferred from bag to bag inside the liner. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these – are they clutter-preventers, or do they just become clutter?

* no, Howards don’t sponsor me (but they probably should Winking smile)

But…. I do keep some stock items in each bag. sometimes it pays to have multiples. so, a pen, a small notepad, my favourite lip balm and some dental floss live permanently inside each bag. Also, about 6 dollars in coins so I can at least park for a minute or two (in sydney).
this way, I know I have those items every time! :-)

Shirley makes a good point – it isn’t clutter if there deliberately and you actually use it.

I’m more worried about the forgottem items that get left in a bag after a night out, then never seen again!
